Filming this morning on location for my new short film, Scars, with former Ravenscraig steelworker, poet and writer Martin Brown.
Set against the landscape and remains of the former Ravenscraig steelworks in North Lanarkshire, Scars explores the personal and collective memories left behind by one of Scotland’s most significant industrial sites. Through Martin’s writing, memories and reflections, the film looks at what remains after the steelworks closed — not only in the landscape, but in the people and communities whose lives were shaped by it.
The film will premiere as part of The Last Foundations: Ravenscraig 30 Years On, my forthcoming photography, film and oral history exhibition at North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre in Motherwell in September 2026, supported through North Lanarkshire Council’s arts programme.
